There is plenty to do when you stay at School Hill in Dungog. For complete information, please visit: http://www.barringtons.com.au/

Enjoy long bush walks or quiet strolls in the nearby World Heritage Areas of Barrington and Gloucester Tops. Barrington Tops is the habitat of an enormous diversity of plant and animal life being at the northern extremity of the range for many southern Australian species as well as the southernmost extent for many more tropical species. More than fifty plants and animals of the Barringtons are listed as rare, threatened or endangered.

Visit the nearby historic towns. Many lovely old buildings can be seen throughout the district. Although no longer visited by shipping, the river port towns of Clarence Town, Paterson and Morpeth still have some of their early historical buildings. Similarly, Dungog is home to many lovely buildings, some with their magnificent wrought-iron lacework still intact. Throughout the countryside, at every turn, on every hilltop, can be found wonderful old homesteads, quaint country churches, many with their adjoining cemeteries, and charming schools.

The best of the Hunter Valley wine region starts only a 25 minute scenic drive away in East Gresford and continues south through Branxton where Hunter wine industry largely began and on to the now more traditional areas of Cessnock and Broke about an hour away.
